I must admit that when I ordered it I had reservations and preconceived notions that this would be a "safe queen". One of those knives that is cool but not really usable outside of combat and limited use there. I was wrong! It is much more than I expected. The bevels are better than I anticipated. Not really acute but very usable. Thought this knife would be more suited to piercing things and not much more. Actually like the way they keep the bevels somewhat acute on the edge and thicker at the tip for strength. With the spine offset from the center this is possible and makes the knife well suited as a utility knife. Sort of like a paring knife on steroids! Actually does well in the kitchen! I can see this one getting much more use than I originally expected. I also like the balance point which is right at the guard. I have enclosed a picture of this as I find it makes the 39-09 feel lighter than it is even though it's not really heavy. This will affect it's chopping ability but if needed for chopping duty it could be hammered through stuff by using the thick spot on the spine. All in all so far I'm quite impressed!"
